ok so I can't quite remember if my eggs are on day 18 or 19 because I had two eggs under my broody hen an entire day before the rest of the eggs and I don't remember if I started my calendar with my first eggs or when I added the rest! God I'm not smart sometimes!

But this is my first time following a hatch and I candles the eggs every few days, and I was going to candle for my last time tonight before I leave them alone... I was only going to check one.... But when I did the one I grabbed had this (little round crack like a beak just to the left of the number 3.
400

Is this a chick pip or did my hen accidentally step on it or peck it a bit? I candled the egg very gently but I didn't know what I was looking for but I saw movement and it didn't look like the air cell was penetrated... I can go take a pic of it while candling... But idk what to think idk if this is even the Egg that was in longest... It's either day 18 or 19 not sure

If your incubator temperature is high, it can cause earlier hatching. Sorry I can't tell you if that's a pip but someone more experienced should be able to tell you. I'm waiting for my bator. :)

Edit- wording error lol

Well it would be easy for me to tell you what temp or humidity is if I was incubating... My Hen is hatching these eggs she went all broody all of a sudden and was siting on an empty nest so I thought "ehh why not?" And ya

Now is the time to stay away from the nest for a few days. It's not uncommon for them to hatch a day or two early sometimes, even under a broody. The 21 days is a guideline - not a "rule". Not much you can do about it if they are hatching. Just let the hen be. She'll most likely stay on the nest another day or two to give the others a chance to hatch.

I'll have to admit - it's hard for me to stay away from my broodies. I'll sit in the coop (on the other side of the chicken-wire wall - the chicken wire is only used on the inside of the coop so I can divide it if I need to) and listen for peeps, watching to see if any chicks pop their heads out from under mama. It's hard not to go in and lift her up just a little to look for babies, though.
