I currently have 2, 5 mo old cockerels (an Egger and a Black Copper Marans), that I have had since week 1. They run together in the same run, at the moment. It's obvious Marans is the dominant of the 2. I recently got 6 pullets to add to my flock, 3 Egger's, 2 Barred Rock's, and 1 Production Red. My thought is to separate the 2 roos, and have 3 hens with each. The 'ladies' are 5 weeks old now and getting big! Ready to move outside. Any suggestions on possibly the best way to introduce them all and separate everyone?

If I put the hens on 1 side and leave the 2 roos on the other for a week or so, will the roos fight to get to the hens? Should I even keep the hens separated for a bit or just let them run with their respective roo right away? Or did I create more problems by trying to keep 2 roos?? LOL. Any advice/guidance would be appreciated! John

If you put the roosters where they can see the girls, they will likely fight. If you put only one in, the other will be lonely and badly bullied if you ever decide to put him back in. If he can still see the hens, he will probably make enemies with the lucky rooster. If you give each three girls, that may cause overmating issues if your roosters have any kind of spirit. You would be better off just putting everyone together, and possibly getting more hens. In my experience you can have two roosters together just fine, but I would say you better expect at least the occasional squabble.
