All chickens skinny help!

Poultry dust is applied once, they every seven to ten days until all eggs have hatched, I think, *not* daily.

okay makes sence I show so I do it a day or two before show

I don't show, but I would think that a show bird should be free of bugs well before a show and that one would not want to enter a bird in a show that has poultry dust on in. You're in 4H, right? Ask your 4H poultry leader, they should know. If they don't, find a poultry judge and ask them.

I would think that the adults in 4H would be offering proper advice?

It depends on the local involvement. Less money to motivate folks these days in an ailing economy. Most youngsters today may not have the interest that once existed. Even breed clubs come and go due to lack of involvement.I know the local 4-H here has people who help out. I've helped out a couple and I'm not even involved with 4-H around here.

Yes, in the book it says that we must dust them for mites so it think that that could be why the chickens are skinny, in the maraks form I have a picture of my sick show girl, and before show although I was giving my show birds the same amount of food they started getting skinny for no reason, I also had a rye neck bird that was raised for show, and thanks for the website Michael Apple

You're welcome. Lots of info on that site. They might be able to connect you with someone local who is willing to mentor you. What breed is it that you wish to show?

I show NN, BLRW, Speckled Sussex, Mile Fleur, Quail Antwerp Belgium, and Partraige Rock Bantams. I already have a mentor from BYC and my dad showed, the only thing that is holding me back is a possible disease in my Flock so I think I am good
