Golden Comets

I have 14 golden comets and would like to breed them next year. What would be the best breed of rooster to keep my production of eggs up for the new chicks? I would also like to keep my brown egg colour too. Thank you in advance.

You can breed them with just about any production-type male. Second generation chicks will not be quite as prolific as their mothers, but still pretty solid producers. Their chicks should be brown layers, unless you use an Easter Egger male. Then you will have a chance for both brown or green eggs.

What you get would depend on the rooster. Red-base color roosters will likely produce birds that look similar to Production Reds or the Golden Comet hens, but the chicks will not be sexable by color.
If the rooster is a silver base color (black and white) then most of the chicks will also be similar to the rooster. Again, the chicks will not be sexable be color.
Dominant white roosters will produce mostly white chicks.
Black or Lavender roosters will produce mostly solid black chicks.

Junebuggena's post was not 'opinions'. It was genetics, facts. In fact, it was extremely helpful if you were to listen to it. No need to be rude and dismissive.

I've bred a Production RIR to golden comets. They are either solid red or red and white. They lay brown eggs just as large as their mothers. I'm not 100% sure about production, because they have come into lay in the middle of winter. They are laying pretty well for the winter.

If you would tell us what breed/color your rooster is, I might be able to answer your question with more detail. My answer was based on the facts of chicken genetics, without knowing exactly what genes your rooster brings to the table, I can't answer you more accurately.
