Oh, I am so very sorry for your loss.

The only thing I can suggest is to put netting over any outside runs they use. Maybe some other members will have some useful suggestions.

I can't stand them either. Ditto to eagles. I know they have to live but why by me. I covered my girls run with anti bird netting. Their pen is 10 by 16 feet. After going to local stores and finding nothing worth the money they wanted for the plastic nets I went on ebay and found nylon netting. It worked great. They can't get out and nothing can fly in. (except bugs and the girls take care of them).

Thank you! I'll have to try that but we normally let them free range and we don't have enough land to fence them in.

Again! So my dad and I aare standing by the door to the porch watching the chickens and my roo starts crowing. The next thing I know, my lil girl comes and crashes into the glass door! I look behind her and there is this hawk! My girl is only like 4 months old, and the hawk is like her size.really tiny. I run out the door and shoo it away. I was so scared. That hawk was really daring to attack right by me. I picked the poor girl up and put her in the coop. Our rooster ran for cover. PLEASE HELP! How can I prevent these Hawks!

we can't afford to make them a huge fenced area.

I just got done reading back yard farmer he suggested getting a live stock guardian dog or setting up a scare crow and hang some aluminium pie pans from tree limbs. I hope this helps

Your Welcome. I also read that one guy used fishing stretched crisscross. It is said the hawks are able to see the fishing line. This time of the year they are hungry and will do bold things.A lot of their prey are scarce and chickens are easy prey
