How many chickens should I kill at once?

I processed one chicken for the first time last month and now want to cull two more old hens--at the same time. I am wondering if I can kill them at the same and let one carcass wait while I pluck and process the other. Is this a bad idea? OR, should I kill and process one at a time and then go back out to repeat the process? The reason I ask is that killing is the hardest part. I'd rather go out to the yard just once. Thank you for your responses.
 
You want to get the intestines out of the before they can go bad and spoil the meat. You want to get the other internals out too but the intestines are the most important.

When people go hunting for small game or game birds, they often wait until after the hunt to clean them. That can take several hours.

There is nothing wring by batching them, killing a few, then plucking a few, then cleaning them as long as you don’t get ridiculous about it.
 
I did 6 yesterday....

From start to finish it was 90 minutes. That includes all cleanup, tables washed and put away the whole bit.

I also was going to the coop and taking one chicken out at a time and putting it in the cone so I had some down time.

I wanted to add I killed them all first than processed them in the same order I killed them
 
We did four at a time and had no problems at all. Just make sure that you kill and bleed one out completely before doing the next one. Once they have bled out, then they will be fine for a little bit. If they haven't bled out completely and you let them sit around, the blood will clot and the meat quality suffers. The longest one of them had to sit after being killed and bled but before being plucked and gutted was probably 30 minutes when we did ours. You could put them in cold water while they're waiting if it's really hot outside or if you're really worried about it.
