Im in London near Greenford and it gets fairly dark around 4pm now and yesterday I put them in near 4 45 and I found out one of my chicks is missing. I have a suspicion that is bird, particularly seagulls, swooped down and took it. All my family are in despair and utter regret. its unlikely for any other creature but I am worrying about the rest of the flock so any advice on how to avoid birds coming down? is there a some sort of net I can put over my garden which is fairly cheap? thanks

There is inexpensive lightweight bird netting that is used to protect fruiting crops from birds.

The main challenge would be setting it up over the area that needs protection. Fiberglass posts and zip ties to attach maybe?

How big of an area are you protecting, and is there a fence around the garden already?

thank you so much. yes the area is pretty big and we have bought a nylon wire of some sort which is perfect to put over our garden. it is 2m by 10m and we are buying a lot to make sure it fits. thanks for the ideas as well! we might use it too :)
