We have had our favorite hen go missing for about 2-3 weeks now. She comes home once a week and goes back to where we didn't know until now. She is two yards over under their porch. They have a big German Shepherd dog and I can't believe of all the places she choose this one. My husband wants to move her into a cage with hay, in our house but I'm afraid she will freak out. She is acting crazy, hastily eating her food and getting back to her spot. I am also afraid, however, if we don't move her and the eggs that when they hatch, the dog might try to eat them when she hears them chirp. She might be protecting the hen though, its really odd that she chose this place to brood. I've read that your suppose to move them at night...I need some advice. I have some week old and a 2 week old rooster that our other broody hen abandon (we had to incubate) that I could put in the room with her to make her feel more nurturing & at ease. Can anyone help me with this please? I really want this to work out as the last didn't and we had to intervene. I think she will be a great mother.
