I'm Debby and I live in Grand Rapids, MI where backyard hens are still raising a ruckus. I'm celebrating the idea the city caame up with, to have a 2 year trial period to see how it goes. Finding quality coops far more expensive than I imagined, I fugure this gives me a couple years to get chicken smart and save money. I'm hoping to find people who sell sexed hens in my area and hope to give some lovely ladies a healthy beautiful place to live and share their eggs. I know already I will love them,
 
Hi Debby, Welcome to Backyard chickens. If you want to be certain about sex- you might want to buy point of lay pullets. There is such a glut of roosters looking for homes, most end up being eaten, if even someone will take them for dinner.

Glad you could join the flock! Hope the trial period goes well and your area are allowed to keep them on a permanent basis. Yes, I totally agree. higher Quality coops are way more expensive. So are you past the 2 year trial period, staring it or have been in it for a while? If your trial goes well i might suggest my article so you can read the pros and cons. here ya go!!
