Help! first time hatching!

If this is the first time your hatching, it's imperative that you keep that bator closed, only because there's no knowledge behind hatching out babies especially if you run into problems.

So I try to STRESS to leave that bator closed so the humidity stays where it is, if you keep opening that bator to re-adjust an egg, guess what your temp and humidity will keep going down and down right now, we need that UP. not down.. The way I look at it, if they are making progress right NOW, WHY BOTHER THEM, let them do there thing. They obviously know what they are doing because THEY ARE DOING IT. I have had SEVERAL ducks externally crack facing the bottom of the bator, doesn't make any difference they still make there way out.

The only real reason you would turn them up is to see them make progress, well why? this can't be the best reason for opening that bator and having the heat and humidity escape..

Shrink wrap: I like to think shrink wrap is when you take a piece of plastic and throw it in a fire, what happens to it? That's right it shrinks up. Well the same thing CAN happen to the Membrane inside a shell..

They aren't gonna get shrink wrapped if the op opens it, rights all the eggs and closes it. I'm not talking about opening it every hour, I'm just suggesting that the eggs should be positioned correctly. A ONE TIME OPENING WILL NOT CAUSE SHRINK-WRAP!
