wont go into coop.

Well mine will all go inside the little run where the ladder is to go to the roost. I just can't get 2-3 of them to use the ladder and go up to the roost at night I have to manually put them up there there's plenty of room they all get established and huddle together.

I'd bet it's pretty tight in there for 5 four month old birds....the roosts are often kind of small in those prefab coops too.
Just not comfortable.

Chquinta - for anyone who has observed the manner in which chickens live, play, lay, spend their days, and roost, they will tell you those little pre-fab coops just are not functional. For all their endearing cuteness, they are entirely too cramped and don't permit the flapping of wings that is required for a chicken to maneuver their way up to a perch without knocking the others off who are already roosting there.

The attached run is so cramped, the ramp up to the coop is too steep for a chicken to feel comfortable using it. I've watched mine use ramps like that, and they refuse to use anything that steep. I've found steps are actually more functional than ramps a lot of the time. Chicken feet slide on ramps and they HATE that feeling!

If I were you, I'd call around and find a handy person who knows how to build stuff and hire them to help build a proper coop and run with plenty of room for chickens to be comfortable and happy. You're only going to continue to have problems with your present set-up.

Thanks I only used that to keep them separate from the adults but they can still see them that way when I put them together they don't fight really bad. That prefab house is inside of my big coop/run and will be making adjustments soon. I'm going to hopefully expand the coop to the other side for smaller chicks. I will adjust the ladder and try to make roosting bars going up and not all flat like they are in the roost now.

Sorry chquinta my reply was for intowin. Your coop is way to small for 5 birds. I'd put a roost in the lower part to give them more options. Or integrate them into the larger flock, they are certainly old enough now
