Two of my roosters had a fight. I didn't see it but my top rooster is in the corner of the yard by himself and the other is with the girls and they are both bleeding around the head and neck. But neither will let me close enough to see exactly what the injuries are or how bad - they keep jumping and kicking at me. What do I do? I have Vetericyn that I could get close enough to spray over the general area that seems to be bleeding. It expired last month - does that matter?

I can see that all eyes are in tact, so that's good.

I agree catch him use leather or rubber gloves if you have to or a Shepard's hook for grabbing his leg to pull him to you.
He should surrender fairly quickly
I would make sure he is okay and make double sure there is no blood they will re attack each other like bulls seeing red!

At some point you will have to re introduce them or make other arrangements.

OH Good luck!

Thanks all.

I did separate them. Prior to this, they had been separated for weeks because of breeding season, but I forgot to latch the gate, and the other one got in to the main yard. I "herded" him back to his area, and he went in his pen and pouted in the corner. I sprayed them both, and I think I might wait until dark to inspect them.

My update is that they are both doing fine. Wounds seem superficial. Both are eating, crowing, and mating their own flocks. Thanks everyone!
