Crazy Chicks Dont Like Anything

So NOT a problem, more just a question about where to start. We ahe utterly enjoyed spoiling our little ladies with love, free range and attention, and now were looking to introduce scraps but they dont seem to like any! I broke up a boiled egg and they turned their noses---my first thought was maybe because it was cold? Then we tried strawberries... same thing. Yogurt, nope. cracked corn scratch mix, nothing. They go CRAZY over the dried millworms we have bought but thats its. They are about six weeks old, so maybe the taste for all things finer will grow on them. Any suggestions on things to try?

Probably there is nothing else that they need or want. -- LOL

-- Mine would never eat scratch - for years...and now they think it is cool stuff. --- Treats may not be the best thing for them -- a well balanced feed - Things that they would find while free ranging -- and a good quality chicken feed.
 
Hey im new here and im a first time chick owner. Do we give them baths? And is it okay to keep them in my house around kids? They aren't sick and there only 2 weeks old.
 
The chicks I had last year were very picky. I would give them treats out of my hand, and at first they would all look at it like "What the heck is that????" Then one of them would get brave enough to peck at it & then the others would come around. Maybe you just have some timid chicks! Maybe if you always give them treats from your hand they will get the idea that things in your hand are treats, and be more brave about trying new foods.

Hope you find something they like. Mine like a few things (watermelon, scratch & boiled eggs) but they are still kinda picky!

They don't need baths unless they are dirty. The chicks I had last year would occasionally get poop on themselves & need a quick bath in the sink. Make sure they are warm enough afterwards so they don't get a chill.
 
Okay hunny and do i use a special kind of shampoo or anything? And are my kids safe to be around them? Someone told me my kids can catch diseases but my chicks are healthy and not sick
 
You would just use plain warm water on the chicks. The kids should be fine around the chicks as long as they are supervised and wash their hands every time they handle the chicks or anything in the brooder.
 
One of my chicks keeps pecking at the other ones and she keeps looking up at me opening her mouth all the way. She's not too friendly at all. Why is she opening her mouth like that? And what should i do about her picking on the others?

Are they getting enough heat? food to keep busy? I just got 2 week old chicks too and they are starting to fly out of brooder so I put wire screen on top.
 
Yeah i have a heat lamp and they have tons of food and water. Maybe they need a bigger cage. The one thats being bad is really big now. He might need more room? I just never seen any of them do what she's doing. She keeps opening her mouth really wide when she's laying down. Could something be wrong?
