I have been wanting to get a Silkie chicken for a while. I was doing research on them and found this website. I will be asking a lot of questions for a first timer :p

I think silkies are adorable! I heard they were once advertised as a cross between chickens and rabbits. Are you only getting one? You said "a Silkie chicken."

You will love silkies! They are super affectionate and make great pets! They also lay cute, little, white eggs and are often broody.

I hope you can get one or two! Keep us posted!
 
Unless you want it as a house pet, I would suggest getting 2 or3. Chickens are flock animals and happier to have some buddies around them. Silkies are a very popular breed but very difficult to sex before 4-5 mos. of age, and sometimes not till they crow or lay eggs. If you put "Silkie thread," in the search box, it should come up.
