new coop what you think? its 4x8 8ft tall. how many hens could I keep in this?

Actually the nesting boxes haven't cost me a dime. The whole coop I have maybe hundred dollars vested. Personally the time spent making this with my so priceless.

I think a 4x8 coop starts to provide enough extra room for the birds. I've used 4x4 and easily managed 6 birds though integration of new birds can be tough with that density. But as you have more and more sqft available the birds require less room per bird. Same concept for run sizes. 10 birds are very comfortable in a 10x10 run but if you double the length to 20X10 many more than 20 birds would be comfy in there. Birds usually flock together and let's say each takes up about a sqft. with 10 birds and 100 sqft available that's only 90 sqft to roam about. With 20 birds and 200 sqft availible it's suddenly 180 sqft to roam. Can easily support more birds with comfort.

My opinion is you could easily manage 12 birds in a 4x8 coop. If new introductions take longer to integrate and have a hard time reduce to 10 birds. I believe with this added size integrations would be normal.

Thanks for all the info. Being very helpful. I will update with more pics when complete. Have a great day.
