When can baby chicks start to go outside, just for a few minutes with my kids to play?

Mine are outside right now in grow out pen inside the run. They are two weeks old, it is about 60 degrees outside. I check on them every hour or so to make sure not to cold then bring them in at night. They will be permentantly moved there this weekend once I get a heat lamp with an extension cord for night time.

Forgot to mention high of 80 today.

do yourself and your chicks a favor. Make sure to attach that heat lamp at least 3 ways, clamp it, attach a chain to it so if the clamp comes loose it will swing and not fall and break, and then put a couple of screws or nails or fence staples around the clamp itself to hold. We don't want a free falling heat lamp to start a fire. Very well documented that they can start a coop fire

Don't worry mine is always clamped than attached with zip ties for extra security. My DD almost started one knocking the heat lamp off the turtle tank, luckily for us it was only a 75 watt bulb and only melted a hole in the carpet.

Did it sooner, two weeks old, temperature holding at about 80. Outside temps high 75-85 lows 48-55. Heat lamp secured with about 10 zip ties for security.

Cool -- thanks! In Austin it's already in the 80s. I thought my little fuzzballs might enjoy checking out some grass and dirt with me in the back yard. (They've only been inside so far in their shavings.) But I wasn't sure if it's be okay. Thanks for the notes here :D
