Hi everyone, my name is Billie and I live in Alabama. I'm a first time chicken mama so I'll probably be driving you crazy with questions lol
We have 5 little yellow girls and a black/brown rooster. I have no idea of their breed. They are 4 weeks old today and have been living in my house since we bought them at 1 day old. At first they were in my daughters bedroom but about a week ago her allergies etc got pretty bad and we were told it was probably from the chickens and their dust etc so now they're living in my living room lol (not just running loose, in a big galvanized feeding tank lol). My coop and run will be ready tomorrow so my roommates will be heading outdoors! YAY!!!
Looking forward to meeting y'all and learning all about chickens

Hi :welcome Billie

Glad you could join the flock! Yes chicks even as small as they are can produce an awful lot of dust and dander!! When I brood chicks in the house it's a constant battle. If you are unsure of breeds you could post pics in the what breed gender section for help https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/15/what-breed-or-gender-is-this
Have you dropped by the learning centre yet? Lots of great articles on keeping a healthy and happy flock https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center

Be sure to ask all the questions you need to, everyone here to help and very friendly.
Enjoy BYC and all the chicken chat :frow
