X2 on drumstick diva's question. Plus you might just have to try both kinds. Chickens can be picky and only eat one kind. I started out using pellets and my birds refused to eat them. They just used their beaks and scooped the food out onto the ground. But then I tried crumbles and they loved it!

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. I prefer crumbles for younger birds as they are easier for the younger birds to eat, but pellets for the older birds as they are less dusty and the chickens spill fewer of them. Sometimes however, for some reason, chickens get picky and don't seem to want to eat the pellets (which doesn't seem to happen with the crumbles). In this case I'm obviously going to go with the crumbles. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. Good luck with your flock.

I will be feeding 4 Standard chickens. They are 3 weeks old right now but growing fast! When they run out of their chick crumble, I think I'm going to go to crumble, then try pellets when they are full grown!
