Hello from myself and my 6 new chicks (they are about 3 1/2 weeks old now). I grew up on a farm in MI (many years ago) and we had chickens, ducks, geese, pheasants, goats, horses, dogs and cats. But that was a LONG time ago and now that I'm just getting back into chickens, I have a lot of re-learning to do. Luckily, my sister in AL raises chickens so she's been a big help, but I'm betting I will learn great information from the members here.
I've wanted to have a few backyard chickens for eggs for several years now, but my husband was afraid I would get too attached and have a breakdown if anything happened to them. I finally talked him into it, and at about the same time my neighbor (who is a science teacher) hatched chicks in her classroom as part of her student lessons. They hatched over a hundred chicks, so she was able to bring some home for me (6 to be exact). The problem is, we have no idea what breeds or sex they are. I'm hoping that I'll be able to get some help here in figuring that out!
In addition to the 6 chicks, we also have a Quaker parrot that lets us live in the house with him. We've been calling him our little green chicken for years, LOL.
I look forward to "meeting" everyone and getting some help figuring out what we have.
Thanks in advance!
