baby duck with lots of problems

Duck dementia oh no another thing I have to look forward to when my ducks get old. Does she forget her name or if she has ate or where she parked her car. Please explain and I would love to know her name. Ernie (omg that name) starts fights with Opie. Are you sure Opie isn't sticking his tongue out or something at Ernie? Poor Ernie losing his feathers and then he can't even grow them back.

I forgot to answer your question a while ago. Yes I remember Mr. Rogers. It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood and that stupid sweater he always took off. Rob and Josh used to watch his show all the time.

Oh no! Ducky dementia!

Wow, Patti, I had no idea that they'd eventually stop molting. I hope my ducks outlive our dogs. Right now, the basement essentially belongs to the dogs, but once the ducks get older, I'd like to have it available for them at least during winter & the heat of summer.

Shirley who is named in honor of most special Aunt, gets confused and cannot handle any excitement. {she is kind of like me] lol I keep her and Ruth Ann and Ernie in the front and side yard of our house. Ernie loves his girls and they adore him. Shirley will still huff at me when I put them to bed to let me know she doesn't want any cuddles.

Opie probably does start the fights he gets on the other side of the fence and does his Muscovy noises and Ernie has to protect his side of the fence.Last time they fought through the fence Opie had his head stuck through and Ernie was literally hanging on the side of the fence[ Muscovy's can climb] Ernie surprised me on that one though. So now I put the plastic poultry fencing there so they can still huff and puff at each other but no fighting.

Ernie hasn't molted in probably 3 yrs. his wings are so beat up I have to put meds on them. Shirley gets wet feather about this time every year but she still molts thank goodness because she needs to be weather proof before cold and snow get here. Ernie spends most of his winter days in one of the dog houses we have set up for our old ones to use in the day time to get out of the weather. We call it the old folks home on this side of the fence.

Tell Shirley I can relate to her issues thats for sure.

Ernie had probably planning that attack for years. Opie moved into the right position and bam. Poor Opie I'm glad you rescued him. I'm sure Opie still felt like he won the battle.

Ernie would probably have a cow if you put a sweater on him this winter. I've seen ducks with sweaters on before. It would probably hurt his pride but if Shirley and Ruth Ann got one to he might fit right in. I love hearing the stories of the ducks they surely keep us entertained.

I fed the ducks awhile ago and I looked over and Uno was laying flat out in the plate that had his chick starter in it. He was just eatting away laying on top of all the food.

How funny just laying in the feed? how lazy can you get. lol

I have thought of sweaters before for my old ones, I'll have to think on that one. I do have a few pics of Opie sporting clothing, I'll have to look for them, he is such a ham he'll wear anything.

One of the aides from Hospice came and she was scared of my ducks, the geese I could see but she didn't see them.

Here's the ham I mean Opie sporting a towel I took a bunch of pics off my computer and put them on this lil thingy with a friends help and I cannot find the thing so I'll have to dress Opie up and take a pic to post.

I've even had people afraid of my chickens. A lot of times it comes from something that happened in their childhood.

Yes Uno was laying flat out in the plate eatting his starter. The lazy days of summer I guess.
