So I have a mallard ducking thats 18 days old who's feet turn in. Now I'm not sure if this is a problem or not because I read that if they have a lack of a vitamin called niacin that they may have this issue. But it also said they dont move around much but she loves running and walking. She doesn't seem like she's in pain either and i dont know if this is genetic or something. Now i did find her egg was abandoned and no one knows for how long so could it also be that the cold deformed her? We are going to buy niacin tablets and see if those help and if i need to i can upload a pic of her. If you have suggestions or any ideas of what this might be please tell me. Thank you.

Also, just remembered this, I've been feeding her my non-medicated chick starter food since getting her. I've read that you can feed them chick food and this particular brand says it can be used for multi-species flocks. So could that have contributed at all?

So i got her niacin tablets and new food specifically for ducks. i read that you can overdose them on it though. dose anyone know what happens if you do or signs that you have. I'm sorry i know so little about these things i wasn't originally planning on having a duckling but if anyone can help its appreciated.

Well, Storey's Guide to Raising Ducks recommends 100 to 150 mg niacin per gallon of drinking water - so if you stick with that, I don't think you can go wrong.
