do I need to get rid of my rooster

My hen hatched a baby a couple months ago. It was not her egg so not her baby. But it is a Rooster. My hen is ready to wean it but they sleep in the same coop. I have no other chickens but my neighbor has plenty. I want to keep this rooster in hopes to keep my neighbors rooster away. But should I get rid of it for my hens sake? Any advice is much appreciated.

Why for hen's sake? Is he mean to hen? If not, keep him if you want him! Heck, we have a roo that is mean to us but as long as he's nice to hen and makes pretty babies, which he is and does!, he stays,,,

Oh he's tame enough so far....he is only 2 months old. Never been mean to mom hen OR me....but she sure can be pushy towards him sometimes(only recently when she began to wean him and lay eggs). Or she just trys to avoid it and doesn't care when it cries whem they get separated. But for the most part they are fine together!

I think she only pecks at him when he tries to mount her. I'm off this weekend and intend on more closely observing their behavior together.
