English Silver Laced Orpingtons

I wish people would stop taking the advice posted by KidCody recently so seriously. The original owner of this account (Louise) is no longer in charge and someone else has taken over with zero genetic sense. No, you should not cross silver lace with gold lace. No you should not cross Mottled with Jubilee. Regardless, the mottled/spangled Orpington was almost ruined by this so called breeder in the US as she was outcrossing to Jubilee in order to mass-produce the Mottled color. Do not do the same with the silver laced. Please do your own research in making your breeding decisions and do not rely on the bad advice of wannabe geneticists on this forum. There are many helpful breeders with experience in the UK you could contact. Or, better yet, do as I did and import hatching eggs and adult birds for some additional genetic diversity in the US.

The pure English Silverlaced orpington has been a challenge to breed true silverlaced color. But it can be done, it does take time and patience to grow out every Chick to see if the silverlaced color breeds true. Unfortunately the Orpington Galore bloodlines does produce chicks with yellow skin. As a foundation breeder of this color, I will say it does take time and effort to breed this color but it is well worth the effort. My beautiful Skip, the foundation father of the Pure English Silverlaced Orpington still breeds on to this day. I always look forward to the next generation of this color!

Of course you should never cross the silverlaced with the gold laced. So sad that some don't realized Marc has passed, long ago. He loved breeding the English Orpingtons, he will never be forgotten, he was so young and had so much love and kindness towards everyone. He loved all animals. His life was cut short, but in his young life he did so much, we love you Marc! We miss you so much. We will never for get you my friend!
