Hi! Can someone tell me if this is bumble foot on my mallard? He roams in the yard during the day, and at bedtime his coup/duck run has straw which is changed weekly. He seems to walk on it ok, although sometimes I notice he will tuck it in when he is just hanging out. I also notice that when he walks it looks as though he is skating. He has always walked like this. My Campbell duck does not walk like this. I was wondering if perhaps the skating motion is creating a callous? I have looked at online pictures of bumble foot and his foot doesn't look as bad, so I guess I was wondering if this is the start of bumble foot, and if so, could I treat it with warm water soaks, peroxide, and neosporin? I really really do not want to cut into it. I would appreciate it if anyone could offer some advice!

Welcome to BYC!

When I find something like that on one of mine I don't worry about it unless they are limping. Can you post a video of him walking?

Hi ant thanks for the reply. I am having difficulty uploading videos. Based on the pic would you recommend that i soak and wrap it?

Could just be an abrasion on the pad.

I would dab it with some antibiotic ointment at night for a week just to be on the safe side.

And no, I do not recommend cutting for bumblefoot in most of the cases of which I am aware. There are better non-invasive ways to deal with it.
