As a kindergarten teacher using an incubator, I wasn't comfortable venting the chicks that we had in the classroom to find out their gender. My co-teacher and I found a few pictures of the spots on the Dominique heads and the pin feather growth of the Red's and thought that the ones I kept were female, but now they are starting to show more aggressive tendencies....

They are a little over a week old, and their new thing is that they stand in a triangle formation, flap their wings and peck at each other.... It's sort of comical but I'm wondering if these are early signs that they will be Roo's? Are there any other ways to tell?

So I've read... but then what should I be looking for in the next few weeks? They both have a comb and something of a wattle... Roo's tend to walk more upright, yes? One of my baby Red's, Chocobo, is almost a giant compared to my other Red and my Dominique... and there is barely a days difference in hatch time between them...

Sure! I'll wrangle up the little wigglers after work and snap a few! Their wing feathers are growing in nicely.... and the two Red's have tail feathers growing in too it looks like...

Carbon a Third Time....

Chocobo

Chocobo is incredibly photogenic...

Chocolate... not so much

This one just came out amusing...

Chocobo and CArbon

Chocobo is clearly much larger than the other two...

Comparison size wise...
