I wasn't sure what to write here so I am glad that there was a template to help!

1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chicks?
We are new to chickens. We moved out to 10 acres last year and I convinced the hubby we needed chicks this year. We saw a pre-made coop on sale and when we decided to get it the guy threw in 6 mixed pullets for free. I had to get a book and do some research but we got them settled into our garage with lamps and bedding. They grew so fast!! We moved them outside at the end of last week (they are 6 weeks old now) and they LOVE it. My kids have made them all into pets and love playing with and petting them. I remember having some at the farm growing up but we were never responsible for them in any way.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We have 6.
(3) What breeds do you have?
We are not sure. I think we have at least one Longhorn and maybe a silver wyandotte. I was actually going to post to see if anyone could help us identify them. They are quite a colorful mixed up bunch.
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
On a search engine when I was looking for answers to what my chicks could be and tying to make sure they are all girls.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Gardening, Crochet, Reading,
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
My husband and I have been married 10 years this year. We have two kids (5 and 8), two cats, two fish, two turtles, and now the chicks!

So glad you could join our community!

Chickens sure are fun to keep! And yes, chicks grow faster than the weeds!

Make yourself at home here and if you have any questions about things, feel free to ask around the forums.

Welcome to our flock!

You could post photos and let us take a crack at identifying your chicks and/or you can post at "what breed or gender is this." Or do both, for twice as many answers.

Welcome to Backyard chickens.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided join our flock. You have a very good and thorough introduction. I wish more new members would follow the template. At least we would learn something about them if they did. You typed "Longhorn" as one of your probable chicken breeds, but you must have meant "Leghorn.") Definitely post their pics and let us ID them for you. Raising chickens is a wonderful experience for children. My granddaughter (pictured in my avatar) loves our chickens. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.

Welcome to BYC! Please make yourself at home and we are here to help.

Very nice intro like Michael OShay said. 10 acres is a lot of land! I'm sure your flock and family are happy!

Thanks everyone! It's good to be here :). Yes I meant leghorn silly autocorrect. Here is a picture of our all ladies. I am getting some more close up ones loaded later on.
