I have actually never even hatched quail before, even alone. I have hatched chicks and I've hatched ducks, but the Last time was over a year ago so I'm kind of rusty. I am getting some silkie eggs from a local farm in a couple days when everything is set up, and the guy has an abundance of quail laying this year so he asked if I wanted some of those as well and said that I could hatch them together. They are just assorted coturnix quail. He has Japanese, Tibetan, Texas A&M, and tuxedo all together. Should I set either one earlier? Ideal temp and humidity to accommodate both? I will probably not be keeping the quail for too long as I don't know much about raising them and I already have everything set up outside with my chickens in it so I'll probably give them to a friend that has a few if they hatch. And this may sound dumb but what exactly is a hatcher? I know a lot of people put chicks in a separate hatcher for them to hatch? Should I put the chicks and/or quail in a separate hatcher.? And should they be in a separate brooder as well? Or can they be housed together? About how long until I could give the quail to someone and remove them from the brooder?
Sorry for all the questions, I'm just new at this.

The quail take 17-18 days to hatch. Chickens take 21 days. You might want to time this so all the eggs hatch about the same time. This type of quail chick are fairly large for a quail. I think it would be OK to leave the silkie eggs and the quail eggs together and let them hatch together. And it is OK to let them hatch in the incubator. I'm not exactly sure what a hatcher is. Silkies are pretty mild; I think they could be raised together, but others may know something on this that I do not. Quail grow faster than chickens and are sexually mature at or before 2 months of age. Be sure to put marbles or somethinhg similar in the water dish so the chicks don't fall in and get wet or drown. Be careful when you open the incubator after the chicks hatch. Quail have a tendency to jump and run faster than silkie chicks.
