Hi to all.

I have had a bantam hen hanging around the yard and my coop for about four days. I was afraid she was going to get injured or worse not in a protected area. This evening I was able to catch her with not much effort at dusk while she was roosting in a tree. Now I wonder what to do with her, I have her in a large dog kennel with water and food for now. My other chickens are much larger 2 RIR and 2 Buffs. The buffs are both roosters. I need to enlarge the flock and possibly rehome one of the buffs, but that's a different story.

My question is would the bantam be able to survive with the larger chickens in time? They have not seemed to be too upset with wandering around outside their run for the last few days. She seems to be a Silver Laced Sebright I think.

Welcome! I'm glad you caught her, but Think very seriously about introducing a foundling into your flock. She might have ??? diseases that you really don't ever want to have. If you have been careful about handling her and she hasn't had access to your birds, maybe there's a rescue group that would take her. If she's already interacted with your birds, never mind. Do worm and treat her for parasites soon. No doubt it will take time to integrate her safely into your group. Mary

If she's been hanging around the OPs yard and coop for four days, I think the time for quarantine has passed. Worm and treat her for external parasites and then stick her in the coop inside the dog crate for a while (if you can).

Good luck.
