Odd behavior

Hello so I have a question and haven't found the answer anywhere so I have my chicks in brooders and noticed odd behavior my seventeen black orps tend to huddle away from the heat lamp and I figured they arnt cold because they are away from the lamp and they arnt hot because they are huddled they are extremely frightened all the time everytime I poke my head in they run. So I'm just wondering if the breed does this due to timidness because the rir/ buff orpington's don't do this
 
They're all different. Definitely make sure you have room in the brooder for them to stay cool when they are too hot. My Ameraucana babies flock towards me when the giant hand feeds them but my Marans and welsummers before them scattered and peeped and hit the walls they were so scared. Just their little personalities!
