I am having some fun watching some game hens getting into round 2 of brooding. I like the harem master can tell when the hens are looking for a nest site. I set up a new nest to be photographed later and Blanch watched my closely as I prepared. Nest site was elevated on a white plastic barrel yet she could see what I was doing. When I stepped away she promptly flew up on to barrel for first time and began inspecting nest. Rollo (harem master) then flew above that and began gurgling his approval as she began to scratch the bedding (crushed oyster-shell) to form a bowl. As I watched two other hens in lay watched very closely. During the 20 minute interval Blanch was in the nest she produced an egg. I will be watching closely now for the appearance of two or more eggs in the nest on the same day.
