3 of my (hopefully girls) are silkies. We got them at the same time from Murray Mcmurray. They are the same age. The black one was the TINIEST LITTLE THING when we first got them. Smaller than all of the others. Now, pearl (the black one) is just a tiny bit behind Alma who is bigger than pearl and Ida.

Ida on the other hand is a different story. Only her wings are changing. She still fits in my palm. She is very active, eats, drinks, plays, etc. She is usually one of the first ones to eat when I give them snacks, and she's never pushed away. In fact, it seems like my bigger girls all look out for her.

Here is Ida

And I wanted to get individual pictures of pearl and alma, but they weren't as willing to cooperate so here is all three of them. You can kind of see the size difference. The pictures aren't the best.

(The darkest one is pearl, and the larger grey-ish one is Alma, and the of course tiny little Ida)

I'm not sure why this is happening? It's been a couple of weeks now and Ida still just looks the same. I'm really nervous to move all of my girls to the coop because I'm not sure if Ida will be able to handle it. I know everyone has different approaches on this, but I'm really attached to my chickens and can't be okay with the "if she dies she dies" situation, unless it's completely out of my control. I just don't want to contribute to her failing. Any thoughts on why this is happening or what I should do here? They are over 5 weeks now and our coop is almost done being built.

Here's a couple more pictures with the rest of my flock that show how tiny Ida is. They all huddled together in the back of the brooder because they didn't enjoy my phone taking pictures of them, so these pics aren't great either.

What happened to lil' Ida? I have a silkie that is now 10 weeks old that is the same. I don't think she has grown since she hatched. She weighs only 2 oz. But she is the spunkiest sweetest thing and can catch a grasshopper almost as big as she is.

Hello! I haven't been on here in a long time to update, but Ida is still thriving. She ended up being a rooster, so I no longer have him, but a family member keeps him for me. He's still on the smaller side as far as I know, but he finally grew :)

This happens with my Silkies, genetics I guess. Some of them catch up, some of them stay small. I love the tiny ones, they're spunky little things that take no crap :p
