Wyoming, MI
I contacted the city to inquire on if they were going to follow Grand Rapids and was surprised to find out that Wyoming has their own process. They are still a little vague on the details however. I was wondering if anyone had gone through it and what it entails. Thanks for your help!

We actually contacted the cite recently and received an email back saying this
As a rule, chickens are not allowed to be kept in the City of Wyoming. However the exception to that rule is that the Chief Building Official has the authority to allow a specific property to keep chickens if requested. There is a process he follows: formal request in writing, with site plan showing location of proposed coop and run, and notification to adjoining neighbors.  After careful review and consideration the Chief Building Official would decide whether or not to allow the owner of that property to keep chickens.

I got the same response from the city. I contacted the chief building official to get more information and got the same reply you did. I thought the whole thing was a bit strange and I'm wondering if they are haphazardly implementing something similar to the Grand Rapids trial run. Please keep me posted on how it goes!

Did you send a request in? After we did our neighbors did get letters in the mail from the city regarding the coop. I'm not really sure if the acres we have to tell the truth lol. I will look into it and let you know though

I haven't sent a request in because I was surprised to find out it was even an option! :) I'm planning for next year if things go smoothly. We just moved into our house so I'm hoping to get to know our neighbours better.

I'm debating right now whether to stay this year or not. I would love to though, when we get the go ahead!
