Baby chick not growing

They may not take it at first if they are only a couple weeks old. I tried when they were around 2 to 3 weeks old and they weren't extremely interested. But at about 5 weeks they gobbled stuff up and loved it.

Has the tiny chick that you have grown any at all? Also how is it doing? My little runt which is a brown leghorn is seemingly to be very tired all the time.

My little Silkie is still pretty small, but finally growing a little. She's getting more feathered in. I'm sorry your chick seems to be extra sleepy. I've not experienced that with the Silkie. I am not sure what advice to offer you because I don't want to tell you the wrong thing to do.

Its ok, I understand, I don't want to give anyone any wrong info either. I have sad news, my little runt died last night.

I don't know about this breed we have. It's actual name is rose comb brown leghorn, for some reason none of them seem to be growing like you would think. Our Delawares are all growing just fine. I have to get pics so you can see what I am talking about.

I'm so sorry to hear about that :(

I have one too. We named her Miracle(as mom said, "It will be a miracle if she lives"). As is about 14 weeks old right now, she is about 1/3 the size of her sister Australorps, and though her body is fully feathered, her head is that of a chick. I dont expect her to make it to adulthood. She is my oldest daughters mercy pet. I personally would have put her down. I suspect her organs are not developing as needed, or she has a hormonal imbalance. There are always a few of these birds in every batch. Its nothing to get hung up on, and it is part of life. Sad, but thats what it is.
