I've had chickens for years, but I'm running into a delema and just looking for other opinions on what would work out best...

My eggs in bator are hatching as we speak, 5 days ago I had a hen go broody and she is on a clutch of 11 eggs.

Should I slip these chicks under her tonight and take her clutch and put them in the incubator... Or should I raise these hatched chicks myself and leave her on her clutch.

I already have her separated from the flock and this is the first time she has ever been broody, she is about 6 months old.

Congrats on the babies!

Either way could work. How many eggs were in your incubator? She has to be able to cover the chicks to keep them warm and safe.

It depends on what is easier and what is better on the chicks and less stressful on the mother.
If you decide to give them to the mother, take the eggs away as fast as you can and carefully slip the chicks under at night. Keep an eye out, to make sure she doesn't peck at them, but she will probably just ruffle her feathers and talk to them and they will talk back.

I hope it all works out well. Best of luck!
