    That Was Unexpected!

So I went out to the chicken coop probably about an hour and a half ago. While I was out there, I checked for eggs (there were none) and cleaned out their water container... I noticed one of my olive egger pullets acting funny... she was being very vocal and going back and forth from the water...

    We made it!

Well, Folks! We did it! We raised all 30 birds with no losses except for one! I’d say that’s pretty good! And we got our first two eggs today! Are eggs usually pretty small when they first start laying? Or are these from my silkies? (The white egg is for comparison of a normal egg)

    Found 73 eggs!!

I am kinda still in shock... Probably will just give them to the cats and chickens, as both really like eggs... But here’s the thing I was wondering about... how long have my chickens been laying here!? Only three chickens were involved in this!

Can I tell who laid what?

I recently got my first egg! Which has led to so many questions..first off, I have 4 hens and a rooster. My hens are: 1 bantam Cochin, 1 black star, and 2 gold sex links. The day before I got the first egg my dad heard our Cochin clucking up a storm all day. Next day we find an egg and as soon...

    Brown egg layer laying white

I just acquired 3 young hens from someone. I was told that their hatch date was 2/23/2017. I was told that they were just starting to lay. I realize that there may be a delay in laying for me because of the stress of being in a new home. I have them in a large dog crate with shavings, food...
