My extension cord isn't long enough to make it to the coop and run our heating pad. There's 17 of them, and they're half feathered out. They've been in our house until today, and I stepped down their heat at a week and turned it off at 2ish weeks. Here it will be mid-50s to high 40s for the next at least week, with highs in 70s and 80s. So can they survive that? Or do I need to bring them inside at night until they're fully feathered? I haven't found a long enough extension cord yet, but I'll keep looking. I have 12 1-week-olds coming behind this batch.
We kept our first two flocks inside for 6 weeks... I kind of don't want a repeat if possible.
