This is my first time owning chickens, and I live in a really hot country (Singapore) where it is 80 - 90 degrees Fahrenheit all year round and where many insects and pests live. I heard that the best bedding for chickens is wood shaving but I also know that ants like to hide under the wood shaving and bite the chickens. Hamsters die if ants bite them and the wound is not noticed but I am not so sure if chickens are also affected by ant bites. I really want the best bedding for my chickens but I also want them to be safe!! So my question is: Do chickens die from ant bites, if so which bedding could I use instead of pine shavings?
