Two weeks ago, my SO and I noticed that one of our chickens wasn't feeling well. It turned out to be a case of a lash egg, and consequently salpingitis. We began treatment with antibiotics on the day we discovered it, and we have been continuing the treatment since then (as instructed, for a two-week period). Since starting the treatment, she has been feeling much better, but we have observed that she is resting more than the other chickens. Additionally, we have noticed that she has produced two egg yolks that appear normal but with absolutely zero egg shells. The most recent egg was laid a couple of hours ago while we were administering the antibiotic. Does anyone have any insights into what might be happening? It is evident that salpingitis is a contributing factor, but we are struggling to understand the underlying reasons and mechanisms.
