Can I put ant baits in a place where chickens can eat the ants but not the bait?

My coop is infested with pissants. I have places in their line where I can put the little ant trap bait things behind a wire where the chickens can't get it. If they ate a poisoned ant or 10,000 will they get sick like cats and dogs do eating poisoned rodents?

Chickens do eat ants, but I’ve never seen them go out of their way to find and eat them. If you see your chickens actively trying to eat the ants, I wouldn’t put the ant traps out. If they ignore the ants, you can probably put them out. Jsut make sure the chickens aren’t messing with the traps.

Permethrin dust in the bedding of the coop will take care of the ants. Our chickens could care less about ants, but wouldn't want them eating ants plus ant bait; find out what it actually is before putting it out there.
I guess if we had fire ants I'd care more...
