Carpenter bees

[Laying around]

This is the first time I’ve seen this happen. My hens were using some nests in our lean-to barn to lay their eggs. Then I got a carpenter bee infestatio, 6 bees, buzzing the door to walk in where the girls were laying. Carpenter bees love to dive bomb and buzz around you to scare you off. Now Ive killed off the bees and the girls won’t go back in to those nests. Any suggestions?

I'd be concerned that something other than the carpenter bees has caused their change in laying places.

Well, I did recently kill a groundhog that had takenup residence somewhere around that out building.

Might be worth setting up a trail cam in there to see if you have any other invaders. Beyond that, could we get some pics of the setup? Maybe some modifications are in order to make them feel more secure in this space?
