Coop sand

Ok I’m new to the chicken world so please don’t laugh at my ignorance lol do you mean that you add the horse pellets to the sand or??? we just bought 2 yards of sand and even though thecquarry said it was concrete sand. It seems way too fine . Ugh so I need to add something to it .
Why do you think its too fine?
I think all* sand is good on a coop floor in warm and mild climates. if it gets very cold I would ad straw.

*Clean sand of course / not contaminated with chemicals or heavy metals. Thats why I prefer to use playground sand.

Everything I’ve seen and read stated play sand is too fine and can cause respiratory issues for chicks

Never had respiratory issues with my chickens. And I use a little DE mixed in the sand in the coop and the sand-bath as wel.

Only had chicks once (long time ago ) who had respiratory issues. But this was from an infection, not from the sand.

Without knowing your location, if the run is in full sun all day, depending your climate, remember that sand gets hot.
