Looks like after a three-year hiatus we will be experiencing heavy pressure from Coopers Hawks. It appears a pair has located a nest to our west by northwest where the hen has already begun sitting on her clutch. The male flies hunting forays over us multiple times each day and the chickens produce alarms in response. They will not be able to take my adults but the smaller juvenile chickens will be vulnerable to the female until about 8 weeks old unless in close proximity to adult chickens. When the juvenile hawks come out that is when I may find one dead after colliding with hot-wire perimeter or getting stupid going after birds around pens where adult chickens get it down.

This may present some interesting filming opportunities.
