First time raising Bernevelder. I thought I will share some photos of my chicks and findings. Their foster mother Wendy hatched 6 of them and it turned out 5 girls and 1 boy (very lucky). By 2weeks it was obvious that the boy has bigger comb than others. By 3weeks his comb and wattles began to have colour. It could be coincidental but the boy was most confident and fearless from the beginning to date. By 6weeks Boy and girl's Tail feather grew differently. Boy's one is short, fluffy and pointing up but girls ones are longer and solid. Some people say difference in feather patterns or boy grows their feathers slower but I have not noticed any. Each individual pattern was slightly different and my boy grew his feather quicker than some other girls. They are 8weeks now, very beautiful and healthy looking. It would be great to hear what other growers findings and tips re:sexing bernevelder.
