Duck eye infection or injury?

Hi! We noticed today one of our welsh harlequins was keeping its eye closed. Upon further inspection the eye is dark red and seems to have a little discharge around it. Is this an infection or possibly an injury? What would we do to treat it? Second picture is another duck's eye for reference.

You could make up a saline rinse and clean the eye really well. Then use Terramycoin eye ointment on it. Using the saline rinse may wash out anything that might have gotten in there and caused irritation the Terramycin eye ointment will take care of any infection.

I think there is a hemorrhage in the eye: it looks like there is blood in front of the iris and a straight line above it -- a fluid line. That is likely to be the result of an injury.

Time will tell whether it will resolve and your duck regain full sight

Sorry I meant to reply yesterday but obviously forgot! It's doing much better, we think it must have gotten scratched somehow. He kept it closed for about a day, but it started looking better after we treated him. We don't think he has any lasting damage since he can see us with that eye.
