I got two goslings last week and they have taken a turn the past couple days. I know that preening themselves and others is normal but they seem irritated and itchy. One has a perpetual wet spot on his back even when i dry him off he fusses with it almost immediately. The girl plucks her wings. Theyre only a week or so old. Could this be depluming mites? Their brooder is clean, food is good, plenty to do and daily outside time. Theres no way they are bored and with all the itching I’m wondering if it could be mites. The only other thing i can think of is we keep a tray of wheatgrass in their brooder to play with. Maybe some allergy is causing this? Ive had many chickens but these are my first geese and i’m so worried for them. Ive seen invermectin is used for depluming mites but for such young goslings i am wary. Please advise!
