Grit

Because we've had chickens for a long time, and have dozens at once, we use older metal feeders for grit and oyster shell. While any heavy dish will work for each, the feeders keep them from standing and pooping in the stuff.
Those cute chick feeders and waterers just won't do for the birds as they grow! You are seeing that already.

We use a rabbit feeder attached to our run. We subdivide it to supply both grit and oyster shell. Note the shell on the ground is from me, not the girls. Also here is a picture of the process of filling the water bucket, feeder, grit and shell. We have a small flock. So it is rare that we need to fill all containers.
