Hey everyone!

Just hatched out my first set of babies this summer ☺️ I've got 6 little goobers in the brooder and I'm trying to figure out what their feather types might be. They're all Serama chicks and I received eggs that could've hatched out smooth, silkied, or frizzled! I know for sure that Uno, our firstborn, is smooth so I'll include a pic of her but not her wings since I already know.

So far, I am inclined to think that I may just have a pretty even ratio of all 3 (*2, 2, and 2) but if anyone has any different ideas I'd be glad to read em! Without further ado, here they are:

(*This is Uno 🐥)

(*This is Tawny, who I suspect may be silkied - her feathers seem to be coming out more slowly and aren't widening out once they're popping out of the sheath, unlike Uno and the other one I suspect is smooth)

(*This is Salem, whom I believe to be smooth feathered)

(*This is Jinx, whom I suspect may be frizzled due to the curving of the sheaths)

(*This is Jet, my little speed racer who I think may be frizzled because of the slight curves in the feathers/sheaths)

(*And last but not least, Onyx, I think, might be silkied as well due to the slow growth and the fact that the feathers are so thin still)

That's all of them (so far 😂)! Any guesses and the reasons for guessing so are much appreciated ☺️ I have a good bit of knowledge but I'm always, ALWAYS looking to learn more.

Thanks much for looking!

You should be able to tell by six days of age! These are Silkies and Satins but feathering principle should be the same. Hope this helps!😊View attachment 3147739View attachment 3147740
Definitely does, thanks so much! I *think* that's what I'm seeing with Tawny and Onyx - their smooth feathered sibling has feathers that just keep getting wider as they come out of the sheath whereas theirs remain as thin as the sheath they are protruding from.

I'm so excited!!!

Agreed. Onyx looks silkied, possibly Tawny.
