I cannot for the life of me tell which of my chicks are male or female. They hatched 8 weeks ago and they just all look the same to me. Minus the one with the leg issue 😂 Anyway, I have a hen with a really long tail that seems to be the mom of quite a few of these babies which confuses me. None of them have been mean to each other like a rooster and no crowing yet. I really hope they’re all female, but I know that is just wishful thinking. I really don’t want to cull any because they are all so sweet and tame. I have a major attachment to all of them because I hatched them. Any help is appreciated! I tried to get all of them as much as possible! I just couldn’t take all of their photos individually because I can’t seem to tell a lot of them apart. There is 10 chicks total.

At age 8 weeks, it is really important to see their combs and wattles. The 2 black chicks are pullets. (Might be the same chick.) In the photo of the black pullet with a red chick, the red chick has a comb that looks like a cockerel, even though the angle makes it hard to tell for sure. The easiest way to tell them apart is to put colored zipties on their legs. Make sure not to pull the zipties too tight, including leaving room for their legs to grow. Identifying them this way will also enable you to learn their unique personalities.
