Our experience in Loudoun County, VA with our HOA was that you could have a small garden. Plants were not to be higher than the fence. When the HOA complained about our Corn, long beans and grapes. They tried to fine us and destroy our garden. We went to the County's Agricultural Board. They told us Loudon County was an Agricultural County. Being classified as an Agricultural County. The HOA was powerless to do anything about it.
We do not live in an HOA division in Santa Rosa County, FL. We plan to have a garden and raise chickens and possibly rabbits. I would suggest to anyone living in a HOA subdivision check with the Farn Bureau. Find out what you can have and do. Then ask if the HOA can override State and County laws and regulations.
