This hen showed up at my friend's place recently and she is wondering what breed(s) she might be. I've googled all the black breeds I can find, and she doesn't match any of them. So I'm coming to the pros here. What do you guys think? My friend says her earlobes appear to be black! (Purple, maybe?) She has not laid any eggs yet.

She looks like an American Game Fowl of some variety. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will comment.

I think you are probably right although there is a serious dearth of decent pics of hens of this breed on the internet. Can you evaluate her for me? Does she appear to be pb to you? I'm just trying to get an idea of what this breed is supposed to look like. I think my friend is going to disperse her flock, which is aging and I am thinking of taking this one, which looks young to me. Will she get along with my layers?
